9.1 Local Requirements European Union
The European Commission has released the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE; 2012/19/EU).
Since August 2005, producers have been responsible for taking back and recycling electrical and
electronic equipment.

Negative environmental impacts associated with the treatment of
waste.
• Do not treat electrical and electronic equipment as unsorted
municipal waste.
• Collect waste electrical and electronic equipment separately.
9.2 Local Requirements People’s Republic of China
Marking for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical
Products
The People’s Republic of China Electronic Industry Standard SJ/T113642014
Marking for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical
Products requires the marking for the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electronic and
electrical products.
In accordance with the requirements specified in SJ/T113642014, all electronic and electrical Tecan
products sold in the People’s Republic of China are labelled with a marking for the restriction of the
use of hazardous substances.
Marking
Explanation
This marking indicates that this electronic product contains certain
hazardous substances and can be safely used during the
environmentfriendly use period, but it shall enter the recycling system
after the environmentfriendly use period.
