Measurement and Adjustment Methods

Head Position Adjustment

The head adjusting plate is provided to adjust the tape touch of the head in cue or review mode.

Head Azimuth Adjustment

Adjust the head azimuth by sliding the head adjusting plate for proper tape contact.

L-chR-ch Output Balance Adjustment

Adjust output levels for L-ch and R-ch to be maximum simultaneously.

L-chR-ch Phase Adjustment

Adjust output levels so that two VTVMs swing to maximum and waveform is as illustrated.

Tape Speed Accuracy

Measure tape speed using frequency counter and calculate accuracy.

Tape Speed Fluctuation

Measure tape speed at beginning, middle, and end to determine difference.

Playback Frequency Response

Measure output levels at various frequencies for playback frequency response.

Playback Gain

Measure playback output level at LINE OUT for both channels.

Erase Current

Measure erase current using VTVM and oscilloscope during record mode.

Overall Frequency Response

Measure and adjust overall frequency response for Normal, CrO2, and Metal tapes.

Overall Frequency Response Adjustment by Recording Bias Current

Adjust bias current to achieve desired frequency response curve for Normal tapes.

Overall Gain

Adjust input level controls to achieve standard output level at LINE OUT.

Fluorescent Meter

Adjust LED lighting levels for -20dB and 0dB segments as required.

Dolby NR Circuit

Check Dolby NR circuit performance by comparing output levels with switch OUT/IN.
