Overview

The Technogym Element+ Chest Press is a piece of essential strength training equipment designed for chest exercises. It features a robust frame and a weight stack system, allowing users to adjust the resistance for their workouts.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Chest Press is to provide a controlled and effective way to train the chest muscles. Users sit on the adjustable seat and push the exercise levers forward, engaging their pectoral muscles. The machine is designed to guide the movement, ensuring proper form and reducing the risk of injury. The weight stack allows for progressive resistance training, catering to various fitness levels.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions:
    • Length: 1250 mm (49")
    • Width: 840 mm (30")
    • Height: 1640 mm (63")
  • Weight:
    • Equipment weight: 190 kg (419 lb)
    • Weight stack: 90 kg (180 lb)
  • Maximum User Weight: 120 kg (265 lb)
  • Equipment Classification: IC EN957-1/2
  • Operating Environment:
    • Temperature: +10°C to +25°C
    • Humidity: 20% to 90%

Usage Features:

  • Adjustable Seat (A): The seat position can be adjusted using the seat lever (B) to ensure optimal alignment for different users. To raise the seat, lift the lever (A) and un-weight the seat. To lower it, the user can remain seated while lifting the lever.
  • Exercise Levers (C) and Handgrips (D): Users operate the machine by pushing the handgrips (D) on the exercise levers (C). The position of the handgrips can be adjusted by pressing a corresponding button, allowing users to set them at chest height and according to their joint mobility.
  • Weight Stack (E): The resistance is provided by a weight stack (E) where weights move along two guides.
  • Load Selection: A pin (F) is used to select the desired load from the weight stack.
  • Workload Adjustment: A cursor (G) allows for fine-tuning the selected workload by 2.5 kg increments.
  • Exercise Technique: Users are instructed to press their arms forward simultaneously without locking their elbows. It's crucial to keep elbows, wrists, and shoulders aligned throughout the movement and maintain a smooth, controlled speed. The grip can be changed from close to wide to adjust the movement trajectory.
  • Back Support: Users should rest their back flat against the backrest during the exercise.

Maintenance Features:

  • Routine Inspection: The equipment requires careful inspection every two weeks for signs of damage or wear. Defective or worn components must be replaced immediately, or the equipment should be removed from service.
  • Cleaning:
    • The equipment should be kept clean and dust-free.
    • Padded parts can be cleaned with a moist cloth or sponge and mild soap.
    • Outer parts should be cleaned weekly with a damp sponge.
    • Chemicals or solvents should not be used for cleaning.
    • Care must be taken not to rub excessively on labels.
  • Weight Stack Guide Lubrication:
    • Remove the back panel of the weight stack.
    • Clean guides of dust and oil residues with a soft cloth.
    • Apply a very thin layer of lubricant (supplied) to the guides using a slightly moistened cloth.
    • Replace the back panel.
  • Cable Replacement (Exercise Levers):
    • Unscrew screws (A) of both tie rods (B) and remove the cable.
    • Insert the new cable, following the original path, and retighten screws (A) of only one tie rod.
    • Insert a 10 mm (1/2") thickness under the first weight of the stack.
    • Bring the two levers into contact with rubber travel stops.
    • Tighten the cable and lock down screws (A) on the other tie rod, keeping levers in contact with stops.
    • Remove the 10 mm thickness.
    • Only use cables supplied by Technogym. Cables must be replaced at the first sign of wear.
  • Cable Replacement (Weight Stack):
    • Remove the back panel of the weight stack.
    • Unscrew screws (A), back off lock nut (B), and unscrew adjuster (C).
    • Extract the weight stack cable from the adjuster side.
    • Insert the new cable, starting from the adjuster side and following the original path. Pay attention when passing the cable through the hole in the front panel of the weight stack.
    • Put in screws (A), adjuster (C), and tighten lock nut (B).
    • Replace the back panel of the weight stack.
    • Only use cables supplied by Technogym. Cables must be replaced at the first sign of wear.
  • Cable Tension Adjustment (Weight Stack):
    • Loosen lock nut (B) and use adjuster (C) to take up slack in the cable.
    • Removing the back panel of the weight stack is necessary for this procedure.
    • When tightening screws (A) to pull the cable taut after replacement, it may be helpful to insert a 10 mm (1/2") thickness under the first weight in the stack.
  • Padded Component Replacement:
    • If padded components (seats and backrests) show wear, they should be replaced. Loosen screws on the opposite side to the padding.
    • Handgrips (A) are removed by unscrewing them.
  • Weight Stack Panel Removal:
    • The panel (A) is attached with 6 screws (B).
    • To disassemble, unscrew the 6 screws (B) while holding the panel, then remove it.
    • Reassembly is the reverse process.
  • Storage: For prolonged non-use, store the equipment in a clean, dry place (10-25°C, 20-90% humidity), covered with a cloth, and using original packing materials.
  • Disposal: The equipment is made of recyclable materials (steel, aluminum, plastic) and must be disposed of according to urban refuse collection regulations by specialist environmental firms. It should not be left where children might use it as a toy.

Safety Devices and Warnings:

  • The weight stack is enclosed in protective panels.
  • All parts that come into contact with the body are protected with rubber coverings or padding.
  • No sharp corners on the equipment.
  • Warnings are provided regarding potential trapping of body parts during transport, maintenance, and cleaning.
  • Labels affixed to the equipment provide information on risks and hazards and should be replaced if damaged or unreadable.
  • Specific "DANGER OF SQUASHING" labels highlight areas of risk.
  • The equipment must be installed and used in a controlled and supervised public recreational area, conforming to regulations.
  • Suitable personal protective equipment should be used during installation.
  • The equipment must be moved with great care to avoid tipping over. A spacer should be inserted between the weight stack panels before lifting.
  • More than one person is recommended for lifting due to the equipment's weight.
  • Do not exert pressure against the weight stack guards when lifting.
  • Any operations carried out by unauthorized persons will invalidate the warranty.
  • Monthly inspection of cable condition is required.
