If there are no spare circuit breakers and the existing circuit breakers are approved for
use with more than one conductor, (most 15 and 20-amp circuit breakers are), then
the black conductor may be connected to one of the existing circuit breakers.
If the circuit breakers are not approved for 2 conductors, or if the authority in your
jurisdiction does not allow this procedure, then it will be necessary to install a new 15
or 20-Amp circuit breaker in an existing space in the panel. (Note: in Canada 15-Amp
circuit breakers or fuses must be used).
If there are no existing spaces in the panel, then one of the existing circuit breakers
may be replaced with a tandem or thin circuit breaker to create an additional circuit.
Contact your panel manufacturer or electrical distributor for details.
