1. Obtain a Normal Sweep Display (refer
to
Basic
Oscilloscope Displays section
of
this manual).
2.
Set
A TRIGGER SLOPE
control
to
+.Use
a sweep
speed setting
that
displays several cycles
or
events (if
possible) and ensure
that
the
VAR TIME/DIV control
is
in
the
calibrated detent.
3.
Set
the
VOLTS/DIV switch and VAR control (or
signal amplitude) for an
exact
five-division display.
4.
Set
vertical positioning so
that
the
zero reference
of
the
waveform touches
the
0%
graticule line and
the
top
of
the
waveform touches
the
100% graticule line.
5.
Set
the
TIME/DIV switch
for
a single-event display,
with
the
rise time spread horizontally as much
as
possible.
6. Horizontally position
the
display so
the
10%
point
on
the
waveform intersects
the
second vertical graticule
line (see Figure 19).
7. Measure
the
horizontal distance between
the
10% and
90% points and calculate
the
time
duration
using
the
following formula:
