STATISTICS
Section 4 — Statistics
In many situations in business and everyday life, you may find yourself
handling a set ot data points that can beat be analyzed with statistical
techniques. This chapter discusses the keys that perform vanous statistical
functions. Including entering statistical data and performing common
statistical calculations
Entering the Statistics Mode
To enter a statistics problem, the calculator must be in the statistics mode
The first time you use the !£ ♦ ! key, as described on the following pages,
the calculator enters the statistics mode, indicated by STAT in the display
When you enter the statistics mode, the following events occur
1 The statistics registers, data memories 4 through 9. and program
registers 21 through 83 are cleared
2. The partition between data memory and program memory is reset to lour
data memories and 21 program steps (See the section 7 tor additional
information.)
3. The STAT indicator appears in the display.
Note : It there is a program In the calculator's program memory when you
enter the statistics mode, only steps 00 through 20 are retained (any
program steps higher than step 20 are erased)
If the calculator is in the statistics mode when you turn It ott. the Constant
Memory feature retains the values in the statistical registers When you turn
the calculator back on. the calculator remains in tha statistics mode and the
values in the statistical registers are still available
All statistical operation keys except the 2nd I [Frq] key sequence dear the
ponding operations
Data Memory and Program Memory In the Statistics Mode
• The Partition Setting
The partition between data memory and program memory is set to tour
data memories (0 through 3) and 21 program steps (steps 00 through 20)
in the statistics mode This is a special setting available only in the
statistics mode You cannot change the partition while the calculator is
in the statistics mode The only partitioning key sequence allowed
