INTEGRATION
Integration, the Integral is displayed and placed In data memory 0 . data
memories 1 and 2 both contain the upper limit
II you press flrt£ while the integration is in progress, an error occurs and
the integration process terminates To complete the integration, you must
re-enter the upper and lower limits and press !M Jto restart the calculation
Note : If you stop an integration by pressing :WS 1, the values in data
memortes 0-2 may not be valid,
Trigonometric Integrals
The functions in a table of trigonometric Integrals require angles to be given
in radians In using the table, you look up the integral, evaluate it al the
integration limits, and subtract To obtain the same answer using the
calculator, it must be put in the radian mode before performing the
integration (Note that the calculator's Integration feature computes the
answer without actually rinding the integral,)
Although a (unction may not contain any tngonometnc functions, its integral
may be an inverse trtgonmetrtc function For such a function, the answer is
in terms of radians, 'ogardiess of the angle mode setting. For example, ihe
Indefinite integral ol (1 fV?»r^~>(9) Is cos-’(t -*). If you evaluaio
/’,* (1/v3)T-xS)dx using 10 intervals and pressing JdaJ. you get 0 5235988
regardless of the angle mooe. But It you evaluate (cos' ’(! -x))’ 5 . you must
set the calculator to radians to get the same answer (0.5235388)
Integrals that involve trigonometric functions usually require the radian angle
unit because it is dlmonskmless However, some problems are better solved
in terms ol dimensioned units (degrees or grads) Be sure to select the
angle units that apply to your problem before performing the integration
Integrate sin x cos x between 0 and IT + 4 radians.
