CAUTION:Propellermustbeinstalledstraightontoengineange.Anyrocking
ofpropellerrelativetothemountingangecouldresultindamage
toengine/propellerangematingsurfaces.
(8)Mountthepropellerontheenginecrankshaft.Makesuretheindexmarksmadewithafelttip
penalignbetweentheaftspinnerbulkheadandtheapplicablepropellerblade.
(a)ForE-8116spinnerinstallations,installtheaftspinnerbulkheadbetweenthepropellerhub
andtheenginemountingange.
NOTE:Makesurethebulkheadassemblyispositionedcorrectlytopermitthe
installationofthelletassembliesaftandinlinewitheachpropellerblade.
(9)Ensurethethreadsofnutsandstudsarefreeofburrs,nicks,andsimilardamage,makesure
thethreadsarecleanofallforeignmaterial.
(a)ForContinentalengineinstallations:
WARNING:Ifthelubricantisnotappliedasrequired,thenutswillbe
undertorqued,andthepropellercouldfail.
CAUTION:Donotuseoilasasubstituteforapprovedlubricant.Itis
imperativethatthecorrectspecicationoflubricantbeused
duringinstallation.Substitutionoftheapprovedgreasewith
anunapprovedlubricant(ornolubricant)couldresultinunder-
torquingorsevereover-torquingofpropellerattachingparts.

Lubricatethethreadsofstudsandnutsandthefacesofnuts,spacers,orwashers
withMIL-PRF-83483(McCauleypartnumberA-1637-16)grease.

Installmountingnutsonmountingstuds.

Makesurethenutlockingmaterialpreventstheturningofthenut(pastthenut
berlockingmaterial)onthestudbyhand.

Torquethemountingnutsinanalternatingsequencetopreventthehubrockingon
theengineange.

Whenthehubisseatedfullyontheengineange,torquetothespecicationcalled
outinthemountingdecallocatedonpropellerhubatthenumber1socket.
NOTE:Ifthedecalcontainingthepropellerinstallationinstructionsismissingor
illegible,installanewdecal.ForContinentalengineinstallationsusepart
numberA-2230-9decal.

TheA-2230-9decalspeciesalubricatedtorque(MIL-T-83483grease)of45
to50foot-pounds(61.0to67.8N-m).

Afteryouapplythenaltorque,applytorquesealtonutandstudthreads.

(10)Ifanadaptororextensionisattachedtothetorquewrenchdriveendandthisaddstoitslength,
