1.GeneralInformation
A.McCauleyallowsspecicrepairs,modicationstocompositepropellers.Onlythechangestothe
originalpropellercongurationasspeciedbyMcCauleyareallowed.
WARNING:UseonlyMcCauleyapprovedrepairmaterials.Donotusematerials
thathavenotbeenapprovedbyMcCauleyfortherepair.
CAUTION:Alldisassembly,overhaul,testing,repair,andreassemblyproceduresof
aMcCauleycompositepropellermustbedonebyanFAAapprovedPart
145PropellerRepairStationorinternationalequivalentbypersonnel
trainedtorepairMcCauleycompositepropellercomponents.
CAUTION:Authorizedpropellerrepairsarelimitedtoproceduresdescribedinthis
manualandthepropelleroverhaulmanual.Replacethepropellerifthe
propellerisdamagedbeyondtherepairlimitspermitted.
B.RefertoPropellerBladeDamageAssessmentandDisposition,T able602andTable603tohelp
determinetherepairsrequiredforthepropeller.
2.ExposedBladeCoreFoam
A.Ifthepropellerbladecorefoamisvisiblethepropellermustberemovedfromserviceandscrapped.
Norepairsarepermittedonpropellerswithexposedbladecorefoam.
3.Delamination.
A.SmallAreaDelamination.
(1)ASmallareaDelaminationisdenedasbeinglessthan6squareinchesoftotalarea,less
than4inchesalongthelongitudinalaxisofthepropeller,orlessthan60%oflocalchordwidth.
Propellersfoundwithsmallareasofdelaminationmustberemovedfromtheairplaneandtaken
toanFAAapprovedPart145PropellerRepairStationorinternationalequivalentbypersonnel
trainedtorepairMcCauleycompositepropellercomponents.Norepairsarepermittedon
propellersthatarefoundtohavealargeareaofdelamination.
B.LargeAreaDelamination.
(1)ALargeareaDelaminationisdenedasbeingatleast6squareinchesofarea,over4inches
alongthelongitudinalaxisofthepropeller,orover60%oflocalchordwidth.Propellerblades
foundwithlargeareasofdelaminationmustberemovedfromserviceandscrapped.Norepairs
arepermittedonpropellerbladesthatarefoundtohavealargeareaofdelamination.
