Optical Spectrum Analyzers Chapter 8: Settings

Spectrum Range: If only a sub-section of the available x-axis range is required for the measurement,
it can be beneficial to crop the spectrum to the desired range to reduce the amount of data to work with.
Note that this cropping is not reversible.
Spectral Smoothing: If the spectra are collected at a much higher resolution than necessary,
smoothing can be applied to reduce the noise in the measurement.
Phase Correction: This option is not selectable and is only for information purposes. When the
interferogram is transformed into a spectrum, the phase error of the interferogram will be corrected to
reduce the error in the measurement. OSA20xC models do not correct for the phase, while Redstone
OSA305 performs a Mertz compensation.
