Why THORLABS Redstone OSA305 software cannot find any instrument?
    • S
      Steven ReedAug 7, 2025
If the THORLABS Measuring Instruments software, ThorSpectra, doesn't detect the instrument, it might be because the instrument was connected after the software started. To resolve this, click the “Connect Devices” button in the Instrument menu to search for connected instruments. Also, verify that Windows® has detected the instrument in the “Device manager” under the Windows® Control panel, looking under “Thorlabs devices” (you may need to select “Show hidden devices”). If Windows® hasn’t detected it, ensure the instrument is on and connected to the PC with a USB cable that supports high-speed USB 3.0 (or USB 2.0 for OSA20xC models). If still not found, check the USB cable connection or reboot the instrument.

What to do if the screen doesn’t update during measurement with THORLABS Redstone OSA305 Measuring Instruments?
    • H
      hartbradleyAug 13, 2025
If the screen isn’t updating during measurement with THORLABS Measuring Instruments, first check your settings to ensure at least one trace is set to “Write” or “Average.” Look at the green progress bar in the bottom left corner to see if the device is still acquiring or processing data. Also, check the acquisition interval in the Settings dialog under the “Acquisition” tab; it should not be set to zero milliseconds. If the interferogram is saturated or non-linear, data display will be paused, and a new acquisition will be requested automatically. Open the Signal window from the Instrument menu and set the gain to Automatic so the Autogain algorithm can optimize settings.

How to unlock axis on THORLABS Measuring Instruments?
    • L
      Lisa JoyceAug 21, 2025
If you can't change the vertical or horizontal axis of the data display on your THORLABS Measuring Instruments, the “Lock axis” check box may be checked. Simply uncheck the “Lock axis” check box and click “Ok.”
