1.1.8 Checks of measured values
Fully examine the measured data taken by this instrument, in particular if
the difference between measurement values for the left and right eyes is
large or any problem is found during the preliminary exmination. When
using the data taken by this instrument to select intraocular lenses,
thoroughly determine the selection by also examining cataract surgery
methods and other inspections. If incorrect measurement data is used to
select intraocular lenses, further surgery might be required.
When using the data taken by this instrument for refractive correction
surgery, thoroughly determine the selection by also examining surgery
methods and other inspections. Refractive correction surgery conducted
according to incorrect measurements or analysis results may result in
further surgery or severe complication such as keratoectasia.
Note that if diopter is used as the measurement unit for the radius of
corneal curvature, the measured value may differ depending on the
cornea equivalent refractive index. If an incorrect value is used to select
intraocular lenses, further surgery might be required.
Do not use the refractive power, radius of corneal curvature, PD value,
residual astigmatism, etc. for prescribing glasses or contact lenses.
There may be eye strain or corneal disorder. Other examination methods
should also be used in conjunction with the above.
When treating or performing a refractive correction operation using a
topographic color map, it is necessary to use careful judgment, such as
checking the ring image (Mire image), performing multiple
measurements, and performing other examinations. Light blockage by
eyelashes and eyelids, misalignment of the center due to unstable sight,
faulty ring image due to corneal disorder and secretions, etc. might
occur. Incorrect analytical results may be displayed if the
Mires-projected ring was not traced correctly. If the color maps are
significantly different between the right eye and left eye, or if the center is
significantly different from other parts (such as too steep or too flat),
refer to the results of other examinations for comprehensive review.
