Why is my Toro Lawn Mower losing power?

  Your Toro Lawn Mower may be losing power because of an excessive engine load (reduce the ground speed); a dirty air cleaner (clean it); a low oil level in the crankcase (add oil); plugged cooling fins and air passages (remove the obstruction); or a plugged vent hole in the fuel cap (clean or replace the cap). Also, check for a dirty fuel filter (replace it). If the problem persists, there might be dirt, water, or stale fuel in the fuel system, and you should contact an Authorized Service Dealer.

Change the belt if the pump belt is off a pulley. Replace the spring if the idler spring is broken or missing. If the hydraulic fluid level is low or too hot, add hydraulic fluid to the reservoirs or let it cool down.

  If your Toro Lawn Mower engine doesn't start, starts hard, or fails to keep running, check the following: ensure the fuel tank isn't empty (fill it); the fuel-shutoff valve is open; the oil level in the crankcase is adequate (add oil); the throttle is correctly positioned midway between SLOW and FAST; the fuel filter isn't dirty (replace it); the air cleaner isn't dirty (clean or replace it); the seat switch is functioning correctly (check the indicator and replace if necessary); the electrical connections are in good condition (clean and apply dielectric grease); the spark plug isn't fouled or improperly gapped (adjust or replace it); and the spark-plug wire is connected. For relay/switch issues or fuel system contamination, contact an Authorized Service Dealer.

Contact an Authorized Service Dealer if the power-takeoff (PTO) switch or PTO clutch is faulty. Install a new mower belt if the current one is worn, loose, or broken.
