Practicedrivingthemachine,becauseithasa
hydrostatictransmissionanditscharacteristics
maydifferfromotherturf-maintenancemachines.
Somepointstoconsiderwhenoperatingthetraction
unit,cuttingunit,orotherimplementsarethatthe
transmission,enginespeed,andtheloadonthe
mowerbladesorotherimplementsaffectmachine
performance.
WithT oroSmartPower™,youdonotneedto
listentotheenginespeedinheavyloadconditions.
SmartPowerpreventstheenginefrombogging
downinheavycuttingconditionsbyautomatically
controllingthemachinespeedandoptimizingcutting
performance.
Youcanusethebrakestoassistinturningthe
machine.However,usethemcarefully,especially
onsoftorwetgrass,becausetheturfmaybetorn
accidentally.Anotherbenetofthebrakesisto
maintaintraction.Forexample,insomeslope
conditions,theuphillwheelslipsandlosestraction.
Ifthissituationoccurs,presstheuphillbrakepedal
graduallyandintermittentlyuntiltheuphillwheelstops
slipping,Thisactionincreasesthetractiononthe
downhillwheel.
TractionAssistisautomaticandrequiresnooperator
input.Whenawheelstartstoslip,owisautomatically
splitbetweenthefrontandrearwheelstominimize
wheelslipandlossoftraction.
Beforestoppingtheengine,disengageallcontrolsand
changethethrottletotheSLOWposition.Changing
thethrottletotheSLOWpositionreduceshigh-engine
speed,noise,andvibration.TurnthekeytotheOFF
positiontoshutofftheengine.Removethekeyifyou
areleavingtheoperator’sposition.
Beforetransportingthemachine,raisethecutting
unitsandsecurethetransportlatches(Figure38).

OperatingtheMachine
StarttheengineandrunitattheHALFIDLEposition
untilitwarmsup.Movetheengine-speedswitch
toHIGHIDLE,liftthecuttingunits,disengagethe
parkingbrake,presstheforwardtractionpedal,
andcarefullydrivetoanopenarea.
Practicemovingforwardandreverse,andstarting
andstoppingthemachine.Tostopthemachine,
removeyourfootfromthetractionpedalandletit
returntoNEUTRALorpressdownonthereverse
pedal.
Note:Whengoingdownhillinthemachine,you
mayneedtousethereversepedaltostop.
Practicedrivingaroundobstacleswiththecutting
unitsupanddown.Becarefulwhendriving
betweennarrowobjectssothatyoudonotdamage
themachineorcuttingunits.
Alwaysdriveslowlyinroughareas.
Ifanobstacleisintheway,liftthecuttingunitsto
mowaroundit.
Whentransportingthemachinefrom1work
areatoanother,raisethecuttingunitstothe
fullyupwardposition,shutoffthePTO,pressthe
mow/transportswitchtotheTRANSPORTposition,
andplacethethrottleintheFASTposition.
