6.Securetheballjointmountandchainbrackettothe
castorarmwiththecapscrews,atwashers,andange
nuts.Positiontheatwasherstotheoutsideofthe
castorarm.Mountthechainbracketintheforward
setofholes.
7.Carefullyremovethewoodblockholdingthepush
armdown.
8.Lineuptheholesintheyokeandinputshaftofthe
gearbox.Slidetheyokeontotheshaftandsecurethem
togetherwitharollpin,2capscrews(5/16x1-3/4
inches),and2locknuts(5/16inches).
ReplacingtheDriveBelt
Thebladedrivebelt,tensionedbythespringloadedidler
pulley,isverydurable.However,aftermanyhoursofuse,
thebeltwillshowsignsofwear.Signsofawornbeltare:
squealingwhenbeltisrotating,bladesslippingwhencutting
grass,frayededges,burnmarksandcracks.Replacethebeltif
anyoftheseconditionsareevident.
1.Lowerthecuttingunittotheshopoor.Removethe
beltcoversfromthetopofthecuttingunitandsetthe
coversaside.
2.Unhookthespringfromtheidlerarmbracketto
releasethebelttension(
Figure22).Removethecotter
pinandclevispinsecuringtheidlerarmbrackettothe
idlerarm.

whileroutingthebeltaroundthegearboxpulley.
Mountthegearboxplatetothedeckchannelswiththe
capscrewsandnutspreviouslyremoved.
7.Installtheidlerarmbrackettotheidlerarmwiththe
cotterpinandclevispin(Figure22).Hookthespring
ontotheidlerarmbracket.Toensurethatthereis
propertensiononthedrivebelt,thespringshouldbe
extendedtoalengthofapproximately7inches(18cm).
Ifthespringisnotextendedtothislength,relocatethe
springrodtoanewmountingholefurtherawayfrom
thebelt.
8.Installthebeltcovers.
