AdjustingtheRollers
Note:Ifthecuttingunitistobeusedinthe25or38mm(1
or1-1/2inches)height-of-cutsetting,thecuttingunitrollers
mustberepositionedinthetopbracketholes.
1.Removethecotterpinssecuringtherollershaftsto
theundersideofthedeck.
2.Slidetheshaftsoutofthelowerbracketholes,alignthe
rollerswiththetopholes,andinstalltheshafts.
3.Installthecotterpinstosecuretheassemblies.
AdjustingtheSkids
Adjusttheskidsbylooseningtheangenuts,positioningthe
skidsasdesired,andtighteningtheangenuts(Figure13).

OperatingTips
Theuseofprotectiveequipment,suchasbutnotlimitedto,
foreyes,ears,feet,andheadisrecommended.
CAUTION
Thismachineproducessoundlevelsinexcessof

lossthroughextendedperiodsofexposure.Wear
hearingprotectionwhenoperatingthismachine.

MowWhenGrassisDry
Moweitherinthelatemorningtoavoidthedew,whichcauses
grassclumping,orinlateafternoontoavoidthedamage
thatcanbecausedbydirectsunlightonthesensitive,freshly
mowedgrass.
SelecttheProperHeight-of-CutSetting
toSuitConditions
Removeapproximately26mm(1inch)ornomorethan1/3
ofthegrassbladewhencutting.Inexceptionallylushand
densegrassyoumayhavetoraisetheheight-of-cutsetting
anothernotch.Whencuttingin25or38mm(1or1-1/2
inches)height-of-cut,addasecondwasherbetweentherear
castorforksandthebottomofthecastorarmhousingsto
increasethebladerake.
MowinginExtremeConditions
Airisrequiredtocutandrecutgrassclippingsinthemower
housing,sodonotsettheheight-of-cuttoolowortotally
surroundthehousingbyuncutgrass.Alwaystrytohaveone
sideofthemowerhousingfreefromuncutgrass,allowingair
tobedrawnintothehousing.Whenmakinganinitialcut
throughthecenterofanuncutarea,operatethemachine
slowerandbackupifthemowerstartstoclog.
AlwaysMowwithSharpBlades
Asharpbladecutscleanlyandwithouttearingorshredding
thegrassbladeslikeadullblade.Tearingandshredding
causesthegrasstoturnbrownattheedgeswhichimpairs
growthandincreasessusceptibilitytodiseases.Makesurethat
thebladeisingoodconditionandafullsailispresent.
ChecktheConditionoftheDeck
Makesurethatthecuttingchambersareingoodcondition.
Straightenanybendsinthechambercomponentstoensure
correctbladetip/chamberclearance.
Stopping
Ifthemachinehastobestoppedwhilecutting,aclumpof
grassclippingsmaybedepositedonthelawn.Followthis
procedureforstoppingwhilecutting
1.Withthedeckengaged,moveontoapreviouslycut
area.
2.Shifttoneutral,movethethrottlecontrollevertothe
Slowposition,androtatetheignitionkeytoOff.
AfterOperating
Toensureoptimumperformance,cleantheundersideofthe
mowerhousingaftereachuse.Ifresidueisallowedtobuild
upinthemowerhousing,cuttingperformancewilldecrease.
