DisassemblingtheBrakes(continued)
4.Loosen,butdonotremovethelocknut(19)securingthewheelhubtothe
motorshaft.
5.Ensurethattheparkingbrakeisdisengaged.
6.Removetheclevispinthatsecuresthebrakecabletothebrakelever(5).
Positionthebrakecableawayfromthebrakelever.
7.Removethelocknut(19)fromthemotorshaft.
8.Slideandremovethebrakedrum(13)fromthemotorshaft.Locateand
retrievethesquarekey(3).
IMPORTANT
Donothitthewheelmotorwithahammerduringthebrakedrum
removalorinstallation.Hammeringmaycausedamagetothewheel
motor.
9.Removethebrakereturnsprings(12)fromthebrakeshoes(11).
10.Removebrakeshoe(11)fromthebrakeplate(6).
11.Ifdesired,thecompletebrakeassemblycanberemovedfromthemachine
byremovingthe4bolts(20)andwashers(21).
12.Ifnecessary,removetheretainingring(4)thatsecuresthebrakelever(5)
tothebrakecaliper(8).Removethebrakelever(5),brakecaliper(8)and
bushing(7)fromthebrakeplate(6).
AssemblingtheBrakes
1.Removetherustanddebrisfromallbrakepartswithawirebrushpriorto
installation.Cleanallparts.
2.Visuallyexaminethebrakeshoesandcontactsurfacesofthebrakedrumfor
excessivewear.Replacethepartsthatarewornanddamaged.
3.Ifthebrakelever(5)andcaliper(8)wasremovedfromthebrakeplate(6),
lightlylubricatetheouterdiameterofthebrakecaliper(8)andinnerdiameter
ofbushing(7)andbrakelever(5).
4.Installthebrakecaliper(8),bushing(7)andbrakelever(5)intothebrake
plate(6)andsecurewiththesnapring(4).
5.Ifremoved,installthebrakeplate(6)ontothewheelmotor(2)andsecure
withthe4bolts(20)andwashers(21).
6.Lightlylubricatethebrakeshoepivotpointswithgeneralpurposegrease.
7.Positionthe2brakeshoesonthebrakeplate.
8.Installthe2springsontothebrakeshoes.Makesurethatthebrakeshoes
areproperlypositionedtopivotandcaliperpoints.
9.Positionthesquarekey(3)inthewheelmotorshaft(2),theninstallthe
brakedrum(13).
10.Securethebrakedrum(13)ontothewheelmotorshaft(2)withthenut(19).
11.Positionthebrakecableendtothebrakecablelever(5)andsecurewith
theclevispin.
12.Installthewheelassembly;refertoInstallingtheWheels(page7–4).
13.Checkandadjustthebrakes;refertotheOperator’sManual.
14.Lowerthemachinetotheground.
