Important:Toensurepropermowerbelttension,
whichwillresultinalongerbeltlife,checkthe
mowerbelttensionaftertherst8hoursofuseand
8hoursaftereachbeltchange.
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrollevers
totheneutrallockedposition,andsettheparking
brake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Adjustthemowerdecktothe3inch(76mm)
height-of-cutposition.
4.Measurethespringlength(Figure57).Ifthespring
lengthisbetween10and10-1/4inches(25.4and
26.0cm),fromposttopost,noadjustmentisneeded.
5.Loosentheboltsholdingtheidlerplate(Figure57).
6.Insertaratchetorbreakerbarintothesquareholein
theidlerplatetoadjustthetension(Figure57).
7.Rotatetheratchetorbreakerbartomovetheidler
plateuntiltheidlerspringisbetween10and10-1/4
inches(25.4and26.0cm)fromposttopostas
showninFigure57.
8.Whileholdingthebelttensionandspringlength,
tightentheidlerplateboltsthatsecuretheidlerplate
(Figure57).
