1.Shutofftheengine,waitforallmovingpartsto
stop,removethekey,engagetheparkingbrake,
andallowthemachinetocoolcompletelybefore
startingtheseinstructions.
2.Usinganaircompressor,blowoutanydebris
fromunderthebrakepoleandaroundthebrake
spacers(Figure68).

connectors,andterminals.
Note:Cleanorrepairasnecessary.
4.Verifythat12Vispresentattheclutchconnector
whentheblade-controlswitch(PTO)switchis
engaged.
5.Measurethegapbetweentherotorand
armature.Ifthegapisgreaterthan1mm(0.04
inch),proceedwiththefollowingsteps:
A.Loosenbothbrake-mountingbolts1/2to1
fullturnasshowninFigure69.
Note:Donotremovethebrakepolefrom
theeldshell/armature.Thebrakepolehas
worntomatchthearmatureandneedsto
continuetomatchaftertheshimisremoved
toensureproperbraketorque.
