Makesurebrakeisadjustedproperly.Thisproceduremust
befollowedwhenabrakecomponenthasbeenremovedor
replaced.
1.Drivethemachineontoalevelsurface.
2.Disengagethebladecontrolswitch(PTO),movethe
motioncontrolleverstotheneutrallockedposition
andsettheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removethekey.
4.Raisethebackofthemachineupandsupportthe
machinewithjackstands.
DANGER
Mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmayfailto
supportmachineandcauseaseriousinjury.
•Usejackstandwhensupportingmachine.
•Donotusehydraulicjacks.
5.Removethereartiresfromthemachine.
6.Removeanydebrisfromthebrakearea.
7.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletothereleased
position.RefertotheUsingtheDriveWheelRelease
Valves(page27).
8.Measuretheoveralllengthofthecompressionspring.
Thecorrectlengthshouldbebetween3.8and4.0
cm(1-1/2and1-9/16inches).Ifthespringlengthis
withinthisrange,noadjustmentisneeded.Ifitisnot,
proceedtostep9.
9.Holdthethreadedrodendwithatoolandadjustthe
locknutuntilthespringlengthisbetween3.8and4.0
cm(1-1/2and1-9/16inches)(Figure76).Donotallow
thecabletoturnwhenthenutsarebeingloosened.

cyclethebrakehandleaminimumof6timestoallow
thecabletoseatintothesheathandmountingtabs.
14.Checkthespringlength;engagetheparkbrakeand
repeatsteps8through12ifthelengthisnotinthe
correctrange.
15.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletotheoperating
position.Refertothe
UsingtheDriveWheelRelease
Valves(page27)
.
16.Installthereartiresandtorquelugnutsbetween90and
95ft-lb(122and129N-m).
17.Removejackstands.
