Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapiece
ofthebladecouldbethrownintotheoperator's
orbystander'sarea,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Beforeinspectingorservicingtheblades,Parkthe
machineonalevelsurface,disengagethebladecontrolswitch
(PTO),andsettheparkingbrake.Turntheignitionkeyto
Off.Removethekey.
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure95).Iftheedges
arenotsharporhavenicks,removeandsharpenthe
blades.RefertoRemovingtheBlades(page58).
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea(Figure
95).Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,oraslotforming
inthisarea(Figure95),immediatelyinstallanewblade.

CheckingforBentBlades
1.Disengagethebladecontrolswitch(PTO),movethe
motioncontrolleverstotheneutrallockedposition
andsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Rotatethebladesuntiltheendsfaceforwardand
backward(Figure96).

bystanders.
Alwaysreplacebentordamagedblade
withanewblade.
Neverleorcreatesharpnotchesinthe
edgesorsurfacesofblade.
RemovingtheBlades
Bladesmustbereplacedifasolidobjectishit,ifthebladeis
outofbalanceorisbent.Toensureoptimumperformance
andcontinuedsafetyconformanceofthemachine,use
genuineTororeplacementblades.Replacementbladesmade
byothermanufacturersmayresultinnon-conformancewith
safetystandards.
1.Holdthebladeendusingaragorthickly-paddedglove.
2.Removethebladebolt,curvedwasher,andbladefrom
thespindleshaft(
Figure97).
