hiddenhazards.
•Besurethatalldrivesareinneutralandtheparkingbrake
isengagedbeforestartingtheengine.Onlystartthe
enginefromtheoperator'sposition.
•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Turfconditions
canaffectthemachine'sstability.Usecautionwhile
operatingneardrop-offs.
•Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturnsandwhen
changingdirectionsonslopes.
•Neverraisethedeckwiththebladesrunning.
•NeveroperatewiththePTOshield,orotherguardsnot
securelyinplace.Besurethatallinterlocksareattached,
adjustedproperly,andfunctioningproperly.
•Neveroperatewiththedischargedeectorraised,
removed,oraltered,unlessusingagrasscatcher.
•Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingoroverspeed
theengine.
•Stoponlevelground,disengagethedrives,engagethe
parkingbrake(ifprovided),andshutofftheenginebefore
leavingtheoperator'spositionforanyreasonincluding
emptyingthecatchersoruncloggingthechute.
•Stoptheequipmentandinspectthebladesafterstriking
objectsorifanabnormalvibrationoccurs.Makeany
necessaryrepairsbeforeresumingoperations.
•Keepyourhandsandfeetawayfromthecuttingunit.
•Lookbehindanddownbeforebackinguptobesureof
aclearpath.
•Keeppetsandbystandersaway.
•Slowdownwhencrossingroadsandsidewalks.Stopthe
bladesifnotmowing.
•Beawareofthemowerdischargedirectionanddonot
pointitatanyone.
•Donotoperatethemowerundertheinuenceofalcohol
ordrugs.
•Usecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,trees,
orotherobjectsthatmayobscurevision.
SafeHandlingofFuels
•Toavoidpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,use
extremecareinhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
ammableandthevaporsareexplosive.
•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andothersources
ofignition.
•Useonlyanapprovedfuelcontainer.
•Neverremovethefuelcaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.
•Allowtheenginetocoolbeforerefueling.
•Neverrefuelthemachineindoors.
•Neverstorethefuelcontainerwherethereisanopen
ame,spark,orpilotlightsuchasonawaterheateror
onotherappliances.
•Neverllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruckor
trailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplacecontainerson
thegroundawayfromyourvehiclebeforelling.
•Removetheequipmentfromthetruckortrailerand
refuelitontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,thenrefuel
suchequipmentwithaportablecontainer,ratherthan
fromafueldispensernozzle.
•Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefueltank
orcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingiscomplete.
Donotuseanozzlelockopendevice.
•Iffuelisspilledonyourclothing,changeyourclothing
immediately.
•Neveroverllafueltank.Replacethefuelcapandtighten
itsecurely.
SlopeOperation
•Donotmowslopesgreaterthan15degrees.
•Donotmowneardrop-offs,ditches,steepbanksor
water.Wheelsdroppingoveredgescancauserollovers,
whichmayresultinseriousinjury,deathordrowning.
•Donotmowslopeswhengrassiswet.Slippery
conditionsreducetractionandcouldcauseslidingand
lossofcontrol.
•Donotmakesuddenturnsorrapidspeedchanges.
•Useawalkbehindmowerand/orahandtrimmernear
drop-offs,ditches,steepbanksorwater.
•Reducespeedanduseextremecautiononslopes.
•Removeormarkobstaclessuchasrocks,treelimbs,etc.
fromthemowingarea.Tallgrasscanhideobstacles.
•Watchforditches,holes,rocks,dips,andrisesthatchange
theoperatingangle,asroughterraincouldoverturnthe
machine.
•Avoidsuddenstartswhenmowinguphillbecausethe
mowermaytipbackwards.
•Beawarethatlossoftractionmayoccurgoingdownhill.
Weighttransfertothefrontwheelsmaycausedrive
wheelstoslipandcauselossofbrakingandsteering.
