Theelectricalsystemisprotectedbyfuses.Itrequiresno
maintenance,however,ifafuseblowscheckthecomponent
andcircuitforamalfunctionorshort.
1.Thefusesarelocatedonrightconsolenexttotheseat
(Figure63).
2.Toreplacethefuses,pulloutthefusetoremoveit.
3.Installanewfuse(Figure63).

Jump-StartingtheMachine
1.Checkandcleancorrosionfromthebatteryterminals
beforejump-starting.Ensurethattheconnectionsare
tight.
CAUTION
Corrosionorlooseconnectionscancause
unwantedelectricalvoltagespikesatanytime
duringthejump-startingprocedure.
Donotattempttojump-startthemachine
withlooseorcorrodedbatteryterminals,or
damagetotheengineorEFImayoccur.
DANGER
Jump-startingaweakbatterythatiscracked,
frozen,orhasalowelectrolyteleveloran
open/shortedbatterycellcancausean
explosion,resultinginseriouspersonalinjury.
Donotjump-startaweakbatteryifthese
conditionsexist.
2.Makesurethattheboosterbatteryisagoodandfully
chargedlead-acidbatteryat12.6Vorgreater.
Note:Useproperlysizedjumpercableswithshort
lengthstoreducevoltagedropbetweensystems.Make
surethatthecablesarecolorcodedorlabeledforthe
correctpolarity.
CAUTION
Connectingthejumpercablesincorrectly
(wrongpolarity)canimmediatelydamagethe
EFIsystem.
Becertainofbatteryterminalpolarityand
jumpercablepolaritywhenconnectingthe
batteries.
WARNING
Batteriescontainacidandproduceexplosive
gases.
Shieldtheeyesandfacefromthebatteries
atalltimes.
Donotleanoverthebatteries.
Note:Besurethattheventcapsaretightandlevel.
Placeadampcloth,ifavailable,overanyventcaps
onbothbatteries.Besurethatthevehiclesdonot
touchandthatbothelectricalsystemsareoffandatthe
sameratedsystemvoltage.Theseinstructionsarefor
negativegroundsystemsonly.
3.Connectthepositive(+)cabletothepositive(+)
terminalofthedischargedbatterythatiswiredtothe
starterorsolenoidasshowninFigure64.
