4.Pumpgreaseintothettinguntilitoozesout
aroundthetopbearing.
5.Removethegreasettinginthehole.
6.Installthehexpluganddustcap(Figure44).

1.Shutofftheengine,waitforallmovingpartsto
stop,removethekey,andengagetheparking
brake.

6.Removetheaxle(withtheotherspacernutstill
assembledtoit)fromthewheelassembly.
7.Pryoutsealsandinspectbearingsforwearor
damageandreplaceifnecessary.
8.Packthebearingswithgeneral-purposegrease.
9.Insert1bearingand1newsealintothewheel.
Note:Replacetheseals.
10.Iftheaxleassemblyismissingbothspacernuts,
applyathread-lockingadhesiveto1spacernut
andthreaditontotheaxlewiththewrenchats
facingoutward.
Note:Donotthreadthespacernutallof
thewayontotheendoftheaxle.Leave
approximately3mm(1/8inch)fromtheouter
surfaceofthespacernuttotheendoftheaxle
insidethenut.
11.Inserttheassemblednutandaxleintothewheel
onthesideofthewheelwiththenewsealand
bearing.
12.Withtheopenendofthewheelfacingup,ll
theareainsidethewheelaroundtheaxlefullof
general-purposegrease.
