Note:Earlyuniversalgroomersused2compressionspringsonnon-adjustable
heightadjustmentrods.Retrottingtheassembliesoneachsideofthecutting
unitwithnewcompressionsprings,heightadjustmentrods,andaddingange
nutstoenablespringadjustmentisrecommended.
DisassemblingtheHeightAdjuster
1.Parkthemachineonacleanandlevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunits
completelytotheground,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthe
keyswitch.
2.Removethecotterpinsandclevispinsthatsecuretheheightadjustment
rodstothegroomergearboxandidlerarm.Discardthecotterpins.
3.Loosenthe2heightadjustmentboltsand2locknuts.
4.Removetheangenut(item4inFigure98)andcarriageboltthatsecurethe
heightadjusterassemblytothecuttingunitsideplate,andremovethefront
rollerandheightadjusterfromthecuttingunit.
5.Disassembletheheightadjusterassemblyasnecessary.
6.Cleanallthecomponentsandinspectforwearordamage.Replaceallthe
componentsthatarewornordamaged.
