1.Disassembletheimpactarmassembly(15)andpivothub(18)asrequired.
2.Thoroughlycleantheimpactarmcomponentsandinspectforwornparts.
Replacecomponentsasneeded.
AssemblingtheImpactArmAssembly
1.Slidethewasher(5),compressionspring(6),secondwasher(5),plastic
bearing(7),thirdwasher(5),atwasher(8)andonejamnut(9)ontothe
springshaft(3).Tightenjamnutsothatspringlengthis30.4cm(12inch).
2.Fithousing(4)overtherodendofassembledspringshaftassemblyand
insertassemblyintotheimpactarmhousing.
3.Temporarilysecurethehousingtoimpactarmhousingwithtwobolts(23)
andangenuts(14).
IMPORTANT
Allendplaymustberemovedfromspringshaftassemblytoallow
properoperationandensurelonglife.
4.Graspendofthespringshaft.Pushinwardandpulloutwardonshaftto
determineifendplayexistsbetweenthespringshaftassemblyandimpact
armhousingassembly.
5.Ifendplayinthespringshaftassemblyexists,inserta3/4inchsocketonto
thejamnutonspringshaft.Accesstothejamnutcanbeobtainedthrough
theopenendoftheimpactarmhousing.Loosenjamnut(9)untilallendplay
intheshaftisremoved.
6.Whennoendplayexistsinthespringshaftassembly,removethetwocap
screwsandnutssecuringthehousingtotheimpactarmhousingandremove
thespringshaftassemblyfromthehousing.
7.Threadsecondjamnut(9)ontotheendofthespringshaft(4).Whileholding
rstjamnutwithawrenchtopreventitfromturning,tighteningsecondjam
nutfrom184to223N·m(135to165ft-lb)tosecurethespringadjustment.
8.Thoroughlypackspring(6)withthegrease.Applyapproximately1.1kg(40
oz)ofgreasetocleanspring.
9.Installthespringshaftassemblyintoimpactarmhousingandsecurethe
housingwith4bolts(23)andangenuts(14).
