Note:Ifthecuttingunitistobeusedinthe1or1-1/2
inches(25or38mm)height-of-cutsetting,thecutting
unitrollersmustberepositionedinthetopbracket
holes.
1.Removethecotterpinssecuringtherollershaftsto
theundersideofthedeck.
2.Slidetheshaftsoutofthelowerbracketholes,align
therollerswiththetopholes,andinstalltheshafts.
3.Installthecotterpinstosecuretheassemblies.
AdjustingtheSkids
Adjusttheskidsbylooseningtheangenuts,
positioningtheskidsasdesired,andtighteningthe
angenuts(
Figure13).

MowWhenGrassisDry
Moweitherinthelatemorningtoavoidthedew,which
causesgrassclumping,orinlateafternoontoavoidthe
damagethatcanbecausedbydirectsunlightonthe
sensitive,freshlymowedgrass.
SelecttheProperHeight-of-CutSetting
toSuitConditions
Removeapproximately1inch(26mm)ornomorethan
1/3ofthegrassbladewhencutting.Inexceptionally
lushanddensegrassyoumayhavetoraisethe
height-of-cutsettinganothernotch.Whencuttingin
1or1-1/2inches(25or38mm)height-of-cut,adda
secondwasherbetweentherearcastorforksandthe
bottomofthecastorarmhousingstoincreasetheblade
rake.
MowinginExtremeConditions
Airisrequiredtocutandrecutgrassclippingsinthe
mowerhousing,sodonotsettheheight-of-cuttoolow
ortotallysurroundthehousingbyuncutgrass.Always
trytohaveonesideofthemowerhousingfreefrom
uncutgrass,allowingairtobedrawnintothehousing.
Whenmakinganinitialcutthroughthecenterofan
uncutarea,operatethemachineslowerandbackupif
themowerstartstoclog.
AlwaysMowwithSharpBlades
Asharpbladecutscleanlyandwithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassbladeslikeadullblade.Tearingand
shreddingcausesthegrasstoturnbrownattheedges
whichimpairsgrowthandincreasessusceptibilityto
diseases.Makesurethatthebladeisingoodcondition
andafullsailispresent.
ChecktheConditionoftheDeck
Makesurethatthecuttingchambersareingood
condition.Straightenanybendsinthechamber
componentstoensurecorrectbladetip/chamber
clearance.
