3.Rotatethereelsothatabladecrossesthe
bedknifeapproximately25mm(1inch)infrom
theendofthebedknifeontherightsideofthe
cuttingunit.
Insertthe0.05mm(0.002inch)shimbetween
themarkedreelbladeandthebedknifeatthe
pointwherethebladecrossesthebedknife.
Note:Puttinganidentifyingmarkonthisblade
makessubsequentadjustmentseasier.
4.Turntherightbedbaradjusterclockwiseuntil
youfeellightpressure(i.e.,drag)ontheshim,
thenbackoffthebedbaradjuster2clicksand
removetheshim.
Note:Sinceadjusting1sideofthecutting
unitaffectstheotherside,thebackingoffthe
adjuster2clicksprovidesclearancewhenyou
adjusttheotherside.
Note:Ifstartingwithalargegap,bothsides
shouldinitiallybedrawncloserbyalternately
tighteningtherightandleftsides.
5.Slowlyrotatethereelsothatthesameblade
thatyoucheckedontherightsideiscrossing
thebedknifeapproximately25mm(1inch)in
fromtheendofthebedknifeontheleftsideof
thecuttingunit.
6.Turntheleftbedbaradjusterclockwiseuntil
youcanslidetheshimcanthroughthereelto
bedknifegapwithlightdrag.
7.Returntotherightsideandadjustasnecessary
togetlightdragontheshimbetweenthesame
bladeandbedknife.
8.Repeatsteps6and7untilyoucanslidethe
shimthroughbothgapswithslightdrag,but1
clickinonbothsidespreventstheshimfrom
passingthroughonbothsides.Thebedknifeis
nowparalleltothereel.
Note:Thisprocedureshouldnotbeneeded
ondailyadjustments,butshouldbedoneafter
grindingordisassembly.
9.Fromthisposition(i.e.,1clickinandshimnot
passingthrough)turnthebedbaradjusters
clockwise1clickeach.
Note:Eachclickturnedmovesthebedknife
0.022mm(0.0009inch).Donotovertighten
theadjustingscrews.
10.Testthecuttingperformancebyinsertingalong
stripofcuttingperformancepaper(ToroPart
No.125-5610)betweenreelandbedknife,
perpendiculartothebedknife(Figure10).
Note:Slowlyrotatethereelforward;itshould
cutthepaper.
