Why won't my Toro Lawn Mower engine start, starts hard, or fails to keep running?

Several factors can prevent your engine from starting or staying running. Start by checking if the fuel tank is empty and fill it if needed. Ensure the fuel-shutoff valve is open. Check the oil level in the crankcase and add oil if it's low. Make sure the throttle is positioned midway between the SLOW and FAST settings. Replace the fuel filter if it's dirty. Clean or replace the air-cleaner element if it is dirty. Check the spark-plug wire connection and adjust or replace the spark plug if it's fouled or improperly gapped. Finally, check the seat-switch indicator and replace the seat if necessary and ensure that electrical connections are in good condition.
