(8) Fixing
The toner on the paper is melted by applying
heat and fixed on the paper.
Method: Melting point of the toner (main com-
ponent: resin) is 100°C - 110°C.
(Heat) A heat roller with a surface tempera-
ture melts the toner.

(Pressure) A pressure roller pressured by a
spring solidifies the toner.
(Fixing) Heat and pressure are applied to the
paper going through the two rollers.
The toner on the paper becomes
fixed.

(9) Cleaning
This process collects any toner remaining on
the drum.
Method: The edge of a urethane rubber
blade (main blade) is placed against
the drum surface.
This blade scrapes off the remaining
toner from the drum.
Another blade collects the scraped
toner (recovery blade).
The drum surface is cleaned.
