Example 1:
If meter reads 15% and temperature of wood
is 10°C (50°F), actual moisture content is 17%.
i.e.15% + 2% = 17%
Example 2:
If meter reads 15% and temperature of wood is 50°C
(122°F), the actual moisture content is 11%.
i.e.15% - 4% = 11%
Combined Species / Temperature Correction
Example 1:
If meter gives reading 15% on a sample of Sitka Spruce and the
wood temperature is 40°C, the correction is as follows:
Species correction @15% = 16%
Temperature correction @ 40°C = - 3%
Corrected reading: 13%.
Example 2:
If meter gives reading 24% on sample of Teak and the wood
temperature is 10°C, the correction is as follows:
Species correction @24% = 20%
Temperature correction @ 10°C = + 2%
Corrected reading: 22%.

Temperature Adjustment Chart
The Pin Probe has been calibrated on wood at an
ambient temperature of 20°C ( 68°F). When measuring
moisture in wood at a different temperature , the
following temperature adjustment needs to be applied.
