  If your Trane Thermostat isn't heating, start by checking if the circuit breaker has tripped and reset it if needed. Ensure that the system selection is set to Heat. If 24 Vac is present, continue troubleshooting. Finally, allow up to five minutes for the system to respond, during which the thermostat may display 'Wait'.

The room temperature display may have been reconfigured, so you should enter Installer Setup number 37 and reconfigure the display. Also, the thermostat may be configured for °F or °C display, so enter Installer Setup number 14 and reconfigure the display. Finally, the thermostat may be in a bad location, so relocate the thermostat.

Why is the outdoor temperature on my Trane XT500C Thermostat not working?

  If the outdoor temperature is not displayed or is incorrect on your Trane Thermostat, first check that the option is activated by entering Installer Setup number 24 and setting it to 1. Note that the thermostat must have OT terminals and a TAYSENS100A installed. Also, the outdoor sensor may be connected incorrectly, so refer to TAYSENS100A installation instructions and check wiring between the thermostat and sensor. Finally, you may have the wrong sensor, so replace the sensor with a TAYSENS100A sensor.

  If the heating or cooling comes on momentarily and then shuts off with your Trane Thermostat, it might be because the heat or cool circuit is opening up or becoming high impedance. To resolve this, add a resistor in parallel with the load or install an interface relay.

  If the system on indicator (flame or snowflake) is lit on your Trane Thermostat, but no warm or cool air is coming from the registers, it might be because the heating/cooling equipment turns on the fan only when the setpoint is reached. Wait a minute after seeing the flame or snowflake before checking the registers.

Alternatively, the heating or cooling equipment may not be operating, so verify operation of heating or cooling equipment in self-test.
