Description
Returns an integer specifying the start position of the first occurrence of one string within
another.
Syntax
INSTR ([start,] str1$, str2$)
Parameter Description
start Optional. Numeric expression that sets the starting position for each
search. If omitted, search begins at the first character position. The
stat index is 1 - based.
str1$ Required. String expression being searched.
str2$ Required. String expression sought.
Example
DOWNLOAD "DEMO.BAS"
string$ = "ABC123ABC123"
searchfor$ = "123"
starpos = 8
temp1 = INSTR(string$,searchfor$)
temp2 = INSTR(starpos,string$,searchfor$)
str1$ = searchfor$+" in "+string$+ " is " + STR$(temp1)
