BOWL LIFT SLIDE & FRAME INSTALLATION: (continued)
16. Place the thrust washer [8] and then the miter gear [11] on the lead screw. Drive the roll pin into
the miter gear and through the lead screw.
17. Push the slide and lead screw down as far as it will go. Slide the collar [12] and thrust washer [8]
up against the slide frame and tighten the two set screws in the collar against the flats on the lead
screw.
18. Check the bearings in the yoke for burrs. Install the yoke on the slide frame. NOTE: do not
tighten the screws at this time.
19. Lift the slide assembly into the mixer housing and place the assembly on the weld studs. Install
the eight flat washers and lock nuts on the weld studs and tighten them evenly to 15 foot-pounds.
20. Insert the bowl lift lever assembly through the hole in the mixer housing. Slide the collar [2] and
thrust washer [3] onto the lever shaft. Insert the lever through the yoke [4] while holding the
thrust washer [8] and miter gear [9] in position. Continue to slide the lever through the yoke until
the miter gear seats against the shoulder on the lever shaft. Refer to the diagram (Figure 11) to
make sure the components are in the correct place. Align the keyways in the miter gear and the
lever shaft and insert the key [10]. Tighten the setscrew in the miter gear.
21. With the yoke screws [5] lightly tightened, tap the yoke back and forth until the miter gears mesh
smoothly. Tighten the screws in the yoke. Adjust the hub [2] so that it is 1/32 from the mixer
housing and tighten the set screw in the hub.
22. Lubricate the miter gears and lead screw with general purpose machine grease.
23. raise and lower the bowl by turning the bowl lift lever. The mechanism should turn freely.
24. raise the bowl all the way. Check the clearance between the bottom of the bowl and the batter
beater. The clearance should be 3/16 +-1/16. If the clearance is incorrect, adjust the clearance per
the instructions in section 2, Mechanics Maintenance “BOWL LIFT ADJUSTMENT” on
page 2.4.
25. Make sure the bowl lift safety switch is actuated by the retainer plate when the bowl is raised
completely
. If the switch is not actuated, or the lever on the switch is being bent, adjust the
bracket by loosening the screws and raising or lowering the plate until the switch actuates.
NOTE: The bowl should continue to raise 1/8 inch after the switch is actuated.
