SAFETY INFORMATION
PREPARATION
• Pressurized air can cause the pump housing, lter, lter lid, or valves to violently separate which
can result in severe personal injury or death to anyone near.
• To reduce the risk of separation, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to make sure that the lter
tank lid and the suction trap cover are properly secured.
• Stand clear of all circulation system equipment when starting the pump.
• Before servicing pool and spa equipment, make note of the lter pressure. Turn off power to the
pump. Set all controls so that the system cannot inadvertently start during service.
• Open the lter’s manual air relief valve (not included with the pump) and wait for all pressure in
the system to be relieved.
• With the lter’s manual air relief valve fully open, place all system valves in the “open” position to
allow water to ow freely from the pool or spa back to the pool or spa (that is, through the entire
circulation system). Stand clear of all pool and spa equipment and start the pump.
• Do not close the lter’s manual air relief valve until all air has been discharged from the valve and
a steady stream of water appears. Observe the lter pressure gauge (not included) and be sure it
is not higher than the pre-service condition. If it is higher, stop the pump and check the system for
closed valves, plugged piping, etc. If in doubt, consult a professional pool service person.
