Overview

The Videx 3000 Series Audiophone, model ART. 3117, is a "4+1" full base intercommunication audiophone designed for use in both traditional "4+1" audio systems and intercommunicating systems. This device integrates an adjustable electronic call tone, a "door open" push button, and four additional buttons specifically for intercommunication.

Function Description:

The primary function of the ART. 3117 audiophone is to facilitate communication within a building, allowing users to answer calls from an outdoor station, open doors, and communicate with other audiophones within the system.

  • Answering a Call from the Outdoor Station: When an incoming call is received from the outdoor station, the audiophone will emit a "beep" sound. To answer the call, the user simply picks up the handset. Once the handset is lifted, a two-way conversation with the caller can begin. To end the call, the handset is replaced back on its cradle.
  • Opening the Door: During an active conversation with the outdoor station, with the handset lifted, the user can press the dedicated "door open" push button (indicated by a key icon) to operate the lock and allow entry. Similar to ending a call, replacing the handset on the cradle concludes the conversation.
  • Making an Intercommunicating Call (Between Audiophones): The ART. 3117 allows users to initiate calls to other audiophones within the system. While the audiophone is in standby mode, the user picks up the handset. Then, one of the four numbered call buttons (1-4) is pressed, corresponding to the desired audiophone to be called. When the target audiophone rings, the recipient can answer the call, establishing a two-way conversation between the caller and receiver. To end the intercommunication call, both parties replace their handsets back on their respective cradles.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • System Compatibility: The ART. 3117 is compatible with traditional VR audio systems, 4K series, 8K series, VR4K series, and VR120DK series kits. This broad compatibility makes it a versatile component for various Videx audio installations.
  • Call Tone Adjustment: The audiophone features a 3-level call tone adjustment switch, allowing users to select between low, medium, and high volume settings for the incoming call tone. This feature enhances user comfort and ensures the call tone is audible in different environments.
  • Additional Buttons: The device includes four additional buttons specifically for intercommunicating calls, numbered 1 through 4. This enables direct communication with up to four other audiophones or designated points within the system.

Usage Features:

  • Handset Operation: The device utilizes a traditional handset for privacy and clear audio during conversations.
  • Intuitive Controls: The "door open" button is clearly marked with a key icon, and the intercommunication buttons are numbered, making the device easy to operate.
  • Volume Control: The call tone volume can be easily adjusted via a physical switch, providing user-friendly customization. To adjust the volume, the user moves the volume switch to the lower position for a low call tone, the middle position for a medium call tone, and the upper position for a high call tone.

Maintenance Features:

  • Front Cover Retaining Screw: The presence of a front cover retaining screw suggests that the device is designed for easy access to internal components for maintenance or repair, if necessary.
  • Technical Support: Videx offers comprehensive technical support via phone and email for installation advice and assistance. This ensures that users and installers can receive expert guidance for any issues encountered.
  • Sales Support: Separate contact information is provided for sales advice and assistance, streamlining the process for inquiries related to purchasing or product information.
  • Online Resources: A quick guide and other manuals are available for download from the Videx website (www.videxuk.com), providing convenient access to documentation and further information.

The ART. 3117 is a robust and user-friendly audiophone designed to integrate seamlessly into various Videx audio systems, offering essential communication and access control functionalities with adjustable settings for enhanced user experience.
