Operation Button(s) Description
Switch on and off
POWER (1)
The amplifier is switched on and back to standby using this button at the
front panel. When switched off the device is not internally separated from
the AC power and reacts to a signal at one of the inputs “POWER CON-
TROL” (6). This main amplifier can not be switched on or off by means of
the “POWER” button as long as a cable is plugged into the “POWER
CONTROL” (6) sockets. As a precaution, before switching on, the Volume
setting of the preamplifier should be reduced. After switching on, the LED
located at the front panel flashes for about five seconds while the pream-
plifier’s protective circuit is active and muting the output. The LED is lit per-
manently as long as the amplifier is active.

Here you can select if the power amplifier is provided with the preampli-
fied input signal at the XLR or at the RCA connector at the rear of the unit.
If set to “XLR”, the SP-997 cannot process a signal connected to the RCA
connector but expects the signal via the XLR connector.
Activate or deactivate

With this switch you can activate or deactivate the automatic-shutoff functi-
on. When set to “ON” it makes this main amplifier switch back into stand-
by automatically 30 minutes after a signal has been detected for the last
time at the socket “LINE IN” (3). This function is not effective in case of a
connected Power Control Cable (6).
