Configuring Using Serial Port
Configuration of all ESERV-10 parameters (including the addresses) can be performed via the
serial port of the unit. You can do this by making a serial connection to the board using a terminal
program, for example, Hyper Terminal in Windows.
Note: The serial data program should be set to 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and
no flow control. Furthermore, the ASCII Setup of the serial data program should be
configured to send line ends with line feeds <CR><LF> and echo typed characters locally.
1. Connect ESERV-10’s serial port and the serial port of the PC with a null modem cable.
2. Start the ESERV-10 by connecting the power to the device or when the power is on, reset
the processor by cycling the processor reset DIP switch (on and back off).
3. Set the ‘INIT’ DIP switch to ‘ON’ position. ESERV Configuration Mode window appears.
4. Select an option on the menu by entering the number or character of the option in the
ESERV-10> -field and pressing Enter.
5. Depending on the parameter or the options available, either type the value for that
parameter or select a proper option number, which gives the parameter a new value and
press Enter.
6. After you have finished, save the new configuration and exit (option E) or discard the
changes by quitting without saving (option Q).
