3.4.3 Setup–Modulator Screen

NOTE:

The Modulator screen should match the settings on the Demodulator screen.

Symbol Rate

Enter the symbol rate number of mega-symbols per second (Msps).

NOTE: The transmit bandwidth parameters must match the receiver.

Modulation

Select the modulation type (QPSK, 16QAM, 32QAM, or 64QAM).

Note: The modulation parameters must match the receiver. You should enter the same

modulation parameters for both ODUs to ensure that the correct filter bandwidth is selected for

the duplex path.

Core Channel

1, 2, 3, and 4

Select the core channel input. (ASI BNC-1, ASI BNC-2, ASI BNC-3, DS3 BNC-

1, DS3 BNC-2, DS3 BNC-3, E3 BNC-1, E3 VBNC-2, SMPTE BNC-3, T1RJ45-

1, T1RJ45-2, E1RJ45-1, E1RJ45-2, Ethernet RJ45-1, RS232, RS485, or none)

Data Rate

(1, 2, 3, and 4)

Enter the data rates for each selected core channel. Combined Data rates should not exceed

98% of Utilization. See also Section 3.4.7, Determining Optimal Data Rate Versus Error

Correction for more information.
