3.7.4 Protected System Configuration
A protected DXL8000 configuration includes a pair of DXL8000 transceivers, ODUs and a DXL
Hot Standby Protection switch, as shown in the figures below. The DXL Hot Standby Protection
switch ensures uninterrupted service and protects against equipment failures for critical
microwave communication links by buffering, monitoring and switching to a backup transceiver in
the event of a major trigger relay alarm from the primary transceiver. Please refer to pages 3-12
to 3-13 and the DXL Hot Standby Protection Switch User and Technical
Manual for more
information.
The system includes ODUs in a coupled or uncoupled configuration. The DXL8000 transceivers
required for your operational microwave transmission may be located across a wide area and
can be interlinked to transmit and receive video, audio and data streams. Examples of protected
DXL8000 configurations are shown below:
