4.2 Installing Target Drives

One or more target drives, up to a maximum of 8, can be connected to the

SuperDuper unit. It can accommodate a combination of both parallel ATA and

SATA drives installed in any arrangement. Each of the parallel drives will be

connected using an ATA ribbon cable, while each of the serial drives will be

connected using a SATA cable. Power for each of the drives is available from

the power strip located in the center of the unit. Please follow the steps

described below to install the target drives:

1. Power off the SuperDuper unit.

2. Attach each of the target drives to the power strip using either the Molex to

Molex or Molex to SATA cables provided.

3. For serial ATA drives, connect one end of the SATA cable to the

SuperDuper unit and the other end to the corresponding target drive.

4. For parallel ATA drives, first attach the blue connector of the ATA ribbon

cable to the rectangular port on the SuperDuper unit. Then, attach the black

connector of the ATA ribbon cable to the rectangular port on the

corresponding target drive itself.

Caution: Due to the design of the SATA power and data connectors, please

ensure that each of the SATA cables are installed properly with no

sideways pressure on either end of the cables.
