5.3 Engine lubrication system
Caution!
If the engine oil level is too high or too low, if the wrong oil is used or if an oil
change is overdue, this can cause
Engine damage and loss of output!
Have the oil changed by an authorized service center
see chapter 5.10 Maintenance plan DT10 on page 5-37
Checking the oil level
The oil dipstick is located on the left side of the engine.
Notice!
Check the oil level once a day.
We recommend checking it before starting the engine. After stopping a warm
engine, wait at least 5 minutes before checking.
Checking the oil level
Perform the starting aid as follows:
Park the vehicle on level ground
Max. inclination about 5°
Stop the engine!
Let the engine cool down
Open the engine cover
Oil dipstick A
Pull it out
Wipe it with a lint-free cloth
Push it back in as far as possible
Withdraw it and read off the oil level
However, if need be add oil when the oil level has reached the MIN mark on the oil dip-
stick A
