MAINTENANCE
CAUTION! Running the engine with a dirty, damaged, or missing air filter element will result in possible
danger and cause the engine to wear out prematurely.
DRAINING THE CARBURETOR
Drain the carburetor after every use and before storing the gen-
erator (refer to Table 4). Draining the carburetor can help prevent
build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside of the car-
buretor.
1. Prepare an approved gasoline storage container.
2. Open the side panel (to the left of the control panel) by twisting
the panel lock knobs (Fig. 23 - 1) a quarter turn.
3. Open up the carburetor drain screw (Fig. 25 - 1) with a Phillips
screwdriver and drain out any gasoline that has built up inside the
carburetor.

AIR FILTER MAINTENANCE
Routine maintenance of the air filter helps maintain proper airflow
to the carburetor. Occasionally check that the air filter is free of ex-
cessive dirt. The air filter should be checked every 50 hours of use.
Refer to Recommended Maintenance Schedule in Table 4.
1. Open the side panel (to the left of the control panel) by twisting
the panel lock knobs (Fig. 23 - 1) a quarter turn.
2. Unscrew the air filter cover knobs (Fig. 24 - 1), remove the cov-
er, and remove the paper air filter element.
3. Check and clean the paper air filter element. Tap it gently on a
solid surface to remove any dust or debris. If a deeper clean is
desired, you can also follow one of the following cleaning proce-
dures:
a. Soak the air filter element in a warm-water-and-dish-soap
solution for about 15 minutes. Remove it and gently rinse it
with tap water. Let it air dry.
b. Use compressed air (not to exceed 50 PSI) to blow out the
air filter element, blowing from back to front.
If the air filter element is damaged, replace it with a new one
(part no. DF500iX-138, available at wenproducts.com).
4. Reinstall the air filter element and the air filter cover. Replace the side cover and secure it with the screws.
4. Once the fuel has drained, tighten the drain screw with the screwdriver.
NOTE: Make sure to drain your carburetor before storing the generator for long periods of time.
5. Close the side panel.
