Function Description

The Whirlpool Ionizer SS209 Dehumidifier is designed to provide both dehumidification and air purification. It features a unique air purifying function that utilizes a nano-silver pre-filter and a deodorizing charcoal filter. The unit also releases negative ions into the discharged air, aiming to provide fresh and healthy air. This allows the appliance to operate as a dehumidifier and air purifier simultaneously, or solely as an air purifier.

The dehumidifier offers highly efficient drying and dehumidifying capabilities. It is equipped with three louver settings, including a wide 140° setting specifically for drying laundry. The rear air intake system is designed to reclaim circulated air, contributing to efficient drying. The unit provides three running modes: Dryer, Air Purifier, and Dehumidifier, allowing users to select the most suitable option. It also features two water level indicators for easy monitoring of the water level.

For user convenience, the SS209 is designed to be movable and compact. Its slim profile and retractable handle make it easy to lift and store, even in smaller spaces like laundry rooms. The appliance includes an automatic defrost function, ensuring proper operation in ambient temperatures above 5°C. Additionally, a fragrance box is mounted near the air outlet, allowing users to add aromatic materials to scent their room or workspace, potentially affecting mood, alleviating fatigue, or reducing anxiety.

Usage Features

Installation and Positioning: The unit should be placed upright on a stable, flat surface to prevent leakage and noise. It requires a safe distance from walls and furniture: at least 60cm above, 40cm (with closed louver) or 20cm (with louver up) at the front, 5cm at the rear (air intake), 10cm on the sides, and 30cm at the bottom. When used for drying laundry, items should be kept at least 40cm from the air outlet to prevent dripping into the unit.

Filter Installation: The nano-silver pre-filter and deodorizing charcoal filter need to be unpacked and installed into the filter frame at the back of the unit.

Louver Adjustment: The louver automatically opens when the unit is switched on and closes when switched off. The SWING key allows users to select the desired swing range. If SWING is off, the louver can be manually adjusted. A sub-louver on the front provides fine-tuning for downward airflow.

Water Bucket and Draining: The water bucket must be properly fitted. If the bucket is full or incorrectly positioned, the "Full" indicator light will flash, and the unit will stop operation. For continuous draining, a pipe with an inner diameter of 11.5-12mm can be connected to the outlet nozzle at the back of the unit. The drain pipe must be sloped downwards and free of kinks to ensure proper drainage.

Control Panel and Indicators: The control panel includes:

ON/OFF key (A): To start and stop the unit.
FUNCTION key (B): To activate functions (Air Purifier, Dryer, Dehumidifier).
SWING key (C): To illuminate swing indicator lights and control louver movement.
HUMIDITY key (D): To set target humidity levels (40-50%, 50-60%, 60-70%).
TIMER key (E): To set operation duration (2, 4, 8, 12 hours).

Status Indicators:

Humidity Indicators (1, 2, 3): Indicate room humidity levels (<50%, 50-60%, >60%).
Defrost Indicator (4): Flashes when defrosting.
Full Bucket Indicator (5): Flashes when the bucket is full or wrongly positioned.
Air Purifier Indicator (6): Illuminates when only air purification is active.
Dryer Indicator (7): Illuminates when producing heated air for drying laundry.
Dehumidifier Indicator (8): Flashes when dehumidifying is active.
Louver Swing Indicators (9, 10, 11): Indicate louver swing ranges (upwards to 80°, forwards to 60°, wide range to 140°).
Humidity Stop Indicators (12, 13, 14): Indicate automatic stop based on target humidity.
Timer Indicators (15, 16, 17, 18): Indicate remaining operation time.

Moving the Unit: Before moving, the unit should be switched off, unplugged, and the water bucket emptied. It should be kept upright and not on its side. The retractable handle and castors facilitate movement.

Maintenance Features

Replacing the Deodorizing Charcoal Filter: The deodorizing charcoal filter (2) should not be washed and needs to be replaced after 3 to 6 months of use. New filters can be obtained from the dealer.

Cleaning the Nano-Silver Pre-Filter: The nano-silver pre-filter (1) should be checked and cleaned every two weeks to maintain airflow and performance. It can be washed with water and gently wiped dry with a soft cloth.

Cleaning the Unit:

Always switch off and unplug the unit before cleaning.
Clean the air intake and outlet with a soft cloth to remove dust.
Do not use petrol or solvents, as these can damage the surface.
Clean the surface with a soft damp cloth using only water or a mild detergent.
Wipe dry with a dry cloth.
Never wash the unit directly with water to prevent internal damage.

Preparing for Storage:

Run the unit in air filter mode for at least one hour to dry the interior.
Switch off and unplug the unit.
Empty and clean the water bucket.
Cover the unit with a dust cover and store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight.
