What to do if Whynter Air Conditioner turns on but is not cooling?
    • A
      aguirremariaAug 20, 2025
If your Whynter air conditioner turns on but isn't cooling, consider these possibilities: * The room temperature may be outside the unit's operational range (64°F to 95°F). * The Cooling mode might not be activated. Press the MODE button until the COOL light appears on the display. * The compressor might be experiencing a time delay. Allow 3 minutes for the compressor to activate after selecting Cooling mode. * The set temperature could be too high. Lower the set temperature. * The internal water reservoir might be full. Manually drain the water or run the unit in fan-only mode to exhaust the water. Cooling will then resume.

How to fix Whynter ARC-143MX that does not turn on?
    • B
      buckpeterAug 22, 2025
There are several reasons why your Whynter Air Conditioner might not be turning on. First, check for a power outage and restore the power supply if needed. Then, check the breaker or fuse and flip the switch or replace the fuse if it has been tripped. It is possible that too many appliances are drawing power on one circuit, so try moving some appliances to another circuit. Also, the power supply voltage might be too low, so move the unit to a circuit with the correct voltage. Check the L.C.D.I. power plug and press the Reset button if it's tripped. Finally, the internal water reservoir might be full and needs to be drained. If the power cord is damaged, or you suspect a loose connection or blown internal fuse, contact the Whynter Service Department.

Why is my Whynter ARC-143MX Air Conditioner running but not cooling?
    • J
      Jessica GordonAug 25, 2025
If your Whynter Air Conditioner turns on but the compressor doesn't, preventing cooling, several factors could be at play. The room temperature might be outside the unit's operational range of 64°F to 95°F. Ensure the Cooling mode is activated by pressing the MODE button until the COOL light illuminates. Allow the compressor 3 minutes to start after selecting Cooling mode, as there's a time delay. Also, the set temperature might be too high; lower it to at least 5°F below the ambient temperature. Lastly, a full internal water reservoir can halt cooling; drain it manually or allow the unit to exhaust the water in fan-only mode.

Why is Whynter ARC-143MX not cold enough?
    • N
      Nathan HowardAug 27, 2025
If your Whynter air conditioner has been running for a while but the room isn't cold enough, it could be due to: * Open windows or doors: Close all windows and doors. * Too many people in the room: Consider additional cooling or another air conditioner. * Direct sunlight: Close curtains or blinds to minimize direct sunlight. * A kitchen or many heat-producing appliances in the room: You may need additional cooling. * A server in the room: Additional cooling may be necessary. * The room being too large: Consider additional cooling or another air conditioner.

    • A
      Andrew JohnsonAug 28, 2025
If the air coming out of your Whynter air conditioner isn't very cold or the airflow volume is weak: * The filters may be dirty or obstructed: Clean the air filters. * The air intake or exhaust may be obstructed: Ensure at least 20" of clearance from the air intake. * The unit may be set in DRY or FAN mode: Set the unit to the cooling mode. * The unit may be set to low fan speed: Set the unit to a higher fan speed.

What to do if Whynter ARC-143MX Air Conditioner is not cooling enough?
    • A
      Adrian MurphySep 2, 2025
If your Whynter Air Conditioner isn't cooling the room sufficiently after running for a while, consider these factors: ensure all windows and doors are closed. If there are many people in the room, or if it's a kitchen or contains heat-producing appliances or a server, you might need additional cooling. Also, minimize direct sunlight by closing curtains or blinds. If the room is too large for the unit, you might need a more powerful air conditioner.

Why is the air from my Whynter ARC-143MX Air Conditioner not cold?
    • R
      richard05Sep 4, 2025
If the air coming from your Whynter Air Conditioner isn't very cold or the airflow is weak, check if the air filters are dirty and clean them. Ensure that there are no obstructions blocking the air intake or exhaust; maintain at least 20" of clearance from the air intake and keep the exhaust hose as short as possible. Verify that the unit is set to cooling mode, not DRY or FAN mode. Also, make sure the fan speed is set to a higher level.

Why does my Whynter ARC-143MX Air Conditioner need to be drained so often?
    • A
      Anthony Vincent PhDSep 6, 2025
If your Whynter Air Conditioner needs to be drained too often, it may be caused by high humidity. If the outside humidity is high or it is raining, remove the intake hose. If the problem persists, there may be a loose connection and you should contact Whynter Service Department.

Overview

The Whynter Elite 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with 3M Filter, model ARC-143MX, is designed to provide cooling, dehumidifying, and fan-only operation for residential use. This portable air conditioner is equipped with caster wheels for easy mobility and is intended for use on hard, level surfaces.

Function Description:

The primary function of this unit is to cool and dehumidify a room. In cooling mode, the air conditioner extracts hot air from the room and exhausts it outside through a dedicated exhaust hose. An optional intake hose can also be used. The unit also features a dehumidifying mode, where it primarily removes moisture from the air, with the compressor activating intermittently. The fan speed is set to low in this mode, though it can be adjusted if the room temperature is above 77°F. The exhaust hose is optional in dehumidifying mode; if not vented, more frequent draining may be required. In fan-only mode, the unit circulates air without cooling or dehumidifying, and the exhaust hose is not required.

The air conditioner includes a control panel and a remote control for operation. The control panel features an LCD display, power control, mode control (Cooling, Dehumidify, Fan only), timer/temperature set control, and fan speed control (High, Medium, Low). The timer function allows for delayed switch ON or OFF, adjustable between 1-24 hours. The unit also has an auto-restart feature, which restores previous settings after a power outage.

A key feature is its self-evaporating function, which automatically exhausts most condensation in environments with less than 70% humidity. In higher humidity conditions (above 70%), about 98% of moisture is still exhausted, with the remaining 2% collected in an internal water tank. A warning light and STOP light will illuminate, and the unit will cease operation when the internal reservoir is full, indicating the need for manual drainage.
