5. Commissioning, operation
Personnel: Skilled electrical personnel
Tools: Screwdriver (see chapter 5.5 “Electrical connection”)

Through working in flammable atmospheres, there is a risk of explosion
which can cause death.

Only carry out set-up work in non-hazardous environments!

In hazardous areas, only use temperature transmitters that are approved
for those hazardous areas. Observe the approvals on the product label.
5.1 Specific conditions for safe use (Ex ia, ic)
1. Installation in the safe area
The transmitter shall be mounted inside a case providing as a minimum degree of
protection IP20 according to EN/IEC 60529.
Wiring inside the case shall comply with the relevant clauses of EN/IEC 60079-11.
Terminals or connectors for the intrinsically safe circuits shall be arranged according to
the relevant clauses of EN/IEC 60079-11.
2. Installation in areas requiring EPL Ga (zone 0), EPL Gb (zone 1) or EPL Gc (zone 2):
The transmitter shall be mounted inside a case suitable for installation in zone 0 or
zone 1, providing as a minimum degree of protection IP20 according to EN/IEC 60529
and wherein electrostatic discharges are excluded.
Wiring inside the case shall comply with the relevant clauses of EN/IEC 60079-11.
Terminals or connectors for the intrinsically safe circuits shall be arranged according to
the relevant clauses of EN/IEC 60079-11.
3. Installation in areas requiring EPL Da (zone 20) or EPL Db (zone 21):
The transmitter shall be mounted inside a case suitable for installation in zone 20
or zone 21, providing IP6x which is in accordance to EN/IEC 60079-0 and wherein
electrostatic discharges are excluded.
Wiring inside the case shall comply with the relevant clauses of EN/IEC 60079-11.
Terminals or connectors for the intrinsically safe circuits shall be arranged according to
the relevant clauses of EN/IEC 60079-11.
4. Transmitters model T15.x-AC with level of protection “ic” are not intended for use in
EPL Dc applications.
