IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
3
• Electrical Compliance: All electrical wiring must comply with applicable local codes, regulations,
and the National Electric Code (NEC). Only a qualified professional should perform electrical wiring.
• Extension Cord: Do not use an extension cord to connect the unit to the power supply.
• Electrical Receptacle: Provide a properly located electrical receptacle.
• Grounding: Do not ground the equipment to a gas supply line.
• GFCI Protection: The electrical equipment must be connected to a supply circuit protected by a
ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). If the GFCI fails to operate correctly, it is defective. If the
GFCI interrupts power without the test button being pressed, a ground current is flowing, indicating
a potential electric shock hazard. Do not use the equipment. Disconnect it and have the problem
corrected by a qualified service representative.
• Voltage Regulation: Voltage at the motor must not exceed 10% above or below the motor's rated
voltage to prevent overheating, overload tripping, and reduced component life.
• Fire and Burn: Motors can cause fires if not properly isolated from flammable structures. Allow the
motor to cool for at least 20 minutes before maintenance.
• Electric Shock: Hazardous voltage can shock, burn, or cause death. Licensed electricians must
handle all electrical wiring. Disconnect motor wiring before working on the pump or motor.
• Electrocution Risk: Failure to bond the pump to the pool structure increases the risk of
electrocution. Use a solid copper conductor, size 8 or larger, to connect the bonding lug to the
reinforcing rod or mesh.
• Entrapment Hazard: Damaged or unsecured suction outlets can cause severe injury or death.
Install at least two functioning suction outlets per pump.
• Hazardous Pressure: Follow all safety instructions to prevent violent separation of pump
components. Ensure system and pump controls are off and the filter manual air relief valve is open
before servicing.
• Hazardous Voltage: Hazardous voltage can cause shock, burns, serious injury, or death.
• Failure to Bond: Failure to bond all electrical equipment to the pool structure increases the risk of
electrocution and can result in injury or death.
