Removal
1. Disconnect the cable joints from the engine.
Loosen the locknut, and remove the cable
joints and the locknuts from the control
cables.
2. Remove the screws and fitting plate.
3. Remove the parts shown in the illustration.
4. Remove the steering handle. Do this by first
removing the white and black leads of the
stop switch, behind the CDI unit cover.
NOTE:After removing the stop switch from the
engine, use the emergency stop switch on the bot-
tom cowling to stop the engine.
5. Turn the steering handle backward.
6. Fit a slotted-head screwdriver into the slit in
the ring nut.
7. Set the screwdriver using the steering brack-
et as a fulcrum.
8. Turn the steering handle forward and loosen
the ring nut.
9. Repeat this operation until the ring nut comes
off.
10. Remove the washers.
11. Pull out the steering handle assembly. When
removing the throttle and shift cables from
the ring nut, route the cable ends through the
slit in the ring nut.
