Start Up and Adjustments
Please Note! When you turn on the C2K 9.0XD, the adjustment LED’s
will light up to display the last adjustment made, regardless of the
position of the selector switch. Therefore, when making or verifying
settings you must make a minor adjustment to each setting so the
microprocessor will set the LED’s to display that particular setting.
Set Up
1) Turn on system with source volume at Minimum
2) Toggle the mode control to the gain (volume) setting on amp
3) Set gain (volume) counterclockwise to minimum. (No LEDs on amp, or
0dB on XD/VFD-WRC)
4) Check the RMS rating of your speakers. Toggle to pre-clip and set the
pre-clip setting to be below the speakers rated RMS power. This puts
a fail safe limit on the input stage of your amplifier. (If you have a one
thousand watt RMS speaker, set the pre-clip to 800 watts) If you do
not have an XD/VFD-WRC, see the chart below for using the LEDs.
5) If you think you need more power, OK...Give it a little more gain. But
remember.. speaker companies expect amp makers to fudge ratings...we
don’t fudge. There are not many speakers that will handle a 9.0 at full tilt.
When you’re done with setup, turn up the system slowly and listen for any
signs of breakup or stress in the woofers. If you hear any, turn down the
pre-clip until they are clean.
