7.2InstallingBoards
TheE4140shelfbackplanesupportsdirectinterconnectionbetweentheactiveand
standbyslotsthroughanUpdatechannel,implementingtheheartbeatfunctionbetween
theactiveandstandbyslots.IfaboardprovidestwoUpdatenetworkportsthatneedtobe
setwiththeheartbeatline,thisboardmustbeinstalledintotheslotinanactive/standby
relationship.
TheE4140shelfprovides14physicalslots,whereslots1to6andslots9to14are
availableforprocessingboards,andslots7and8areavailableforswitchingboards.For
therelationshipbetweenactiveandstandbyslots,seeFigure7-3.
